Reference detail

Every Day-Date is solid precious metal — yellow, white, or Everose gold, or platinum — never steel, which means there's a real metal-content floor under the loan value that most other Rolex models don't have. On top of that floor, dial variant does a lot of work: factory diamond-set dials, stone-marker dials, and rarer colors (green, ice blue on platinum models) all carry premiums over a standard baize or champagne dial on the same reference.

Vintage Presidents (1803, 118238) get evaluated the same way we'd evaluate a vintage Submariner — originality of dial and bracelet stretch matter as much as the reference number. A well-kept 1803 with a correct dial can outprice a more "modern" reference if the newer piece has condition issues. Platinum models (228206 and its predecessors) sit at the top of the line and are appraised individually rather than against a standard table.
