Reference detail

The Submariner line spans a wider price range than any other Rolex sport model, so lumping "a Submariner" into one number would leave real value on the table. Discontinued colorways carry the biggest premiums: the green-dial-and-bezel Hulk (116610LV) and the earlier Kermit (16610LV, green bezel only) both trade well above a standard black 116610LN because production stopped and demand didn't. No-date Submariners (114060, 124060) sit in a different collector bracket than date models — some buyers actively prefer the cleaner no-date dial, which keeps that segment's pricing firm rather than treating it as "missing a feature."

Vintage references (5513, 1680) are priced almost entirely on condition and originality — an untouched dial with honest patina and matching lume plots on hands and markers is worth meaningfully more than a redialed or over-polished example, even at the same reference number.
